 | Since it opened in 1987, every year the Cardio-Thoracic Centre treats patients who are handled within the framework of humanitarian action, placing at their disposal skills and technical equipment that are rare or inexistent in many developing countries. Cardiological diagnosis, urgent surgery and paediatric reanimation are carried out by the Centre's permanent team, whilst more complex cases are entrusted to internationally renowned specialists – Pr. J. QUAEGEBEUR, in New York and Dr Y. LECOMPTE in Paris. More than 120 children have thus been able to have operations at the Centre, thanks to the support of a number of Monegasque and international charities, and also of generous donors, both corporate and individual. The humanitarian action is backed by the Research Association of the Cardio-Thoracic Centre in Monaco [Association d’Etudes et de Recherches du Centre Cardio-Thoracique de Monaco], which was founded in March 1997. | | | Publications - Annual review 2003
