CHARITIES

Various Monegasque charities have shown us their support on so many occasions. We have thus been able to obtain payment of their expenses for all of such patients having operations at the Centre, as well as moral support for patients coming from distant horizons: a post-operative visit is generally paid by the backers, laden with presents for the little ones.

RENCONTRES AFRICAINES:

Where small children are involved, the charity "Rencontres Africaines" organises hospitality in one of the volunteer families, as well as the children's transport, working together with the charity "Aviation Sans Frontières," and establishes the link with these host families who are going to:

  • look after them before the operation, to get to know them,
  • visit them every day during their stay in hospital,
  • put them up at home, often for a month after their discharge from the Centre,
  • take them to the airport for their journey back to their country.

The families often retain a very strong emotional attachment to these young patients.

SOME ACTION UNDERTAKEN :

  • A private individual, well-known in the area, decided to ask the guests invited to his birthday party to make donations so that children could undergo operations at the Centre.
  • The 10 000th child, transported by A.S.F., was operated on at the Centre.
  • CHILDREN & FUTURE organised its "No Finish Line" event for the 6th occasion on the port in Monaco. For eight days, and twenty-four hours per day, everyone could go along and walk or run and every km earned €1. A very large amount - €51,150 - was collected in 2005, enabling us to pay treatment costs for several children!
